Open House

Date: October 5, 2025   Time: 1-4pm

To start off Fire Prevention Week, the Washington Township Fire Department will be holding their annual Open House on Sunday, October 5 from 1-4pm. Meet the firefighters, check out equipment, go on a station tour, see demonstrations and more!

This year's theme, "Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home" strives to educate everyone about the importance of using these batteries safely. Visit any of the four stations during Open House to learn more! 

  • Station 91 - 6255 Shier Rings Rd. 
  • Station 92 - 4497 Hard Rd.
  • Station 93 - 5825 Brand Rd.
  • Station 95 - 5750 Blazer Parkway (water tower)

Residential Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Drop-Off at Open House

 Please bring the following battery types:

  • Dry Cell Batteries:
    • Alkaline
    • Nickel Cadmium (NiCd)
    • Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH)
    • Zinc-Air
    • Carbon
  • Sealed Lead Acid Batteries
  • Important: For any battery over 9 volts, tape the terminal ends with clear tape.

Lithium & Lithium-Ion Batteries: All terminal ends must be taped with clear tape.

We Do NOT Accept:

  • Damaged, Defective, or Returned Batteries
  • Lithium-Ion Cells with a Watt-hour (Wh) rating over 20 Wh
  • Lithium-Ion Batteries with a Wh rating over 100 Wh
