Full-Time Lateral Firefighters

The Township is seeking a forward-thinking and experienced firefighter / paramedic professionals who are passionate about public service, first responder emergency medical care, and continuing education and training. Our firefighters are a part of a dynamic team who collaborate with internal and external customers to provide the best services to the community.

Our firefighters have professional experience with fire, rescue and emergency medical service equipment, apparatus and techniques to extinguish fires and rescues victims as well as experience with current emergency medical patient care practices and techniques, knowledge of emergency medical protocols, regulations, policies and procedures and has the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships local healthcare providers.

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • At least age 18 years of age
  • Citizen of the United States
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent; Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, EMS or related area preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in related area plus
  • 3 years of paid full-time firefighting experience
  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license with good driving record
  • Ohio Firefighter Level II certification
  • Ohio Paramedic certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications
  • Pass physical agility test annually
  • Pass background checks (BCI / FBI criminal history, reference and credit checks, credit report and driving history, education verification)
  • Pass psychological screening & polygraph
  • Pass pre-employment and annual physicals
  • Pass all drug screens

  • Starting annual salary up to $85,355.12(based on experience)

Part-Time Firefighters

We continuously accept applications for part time firefighters. To be considered for a part time firefighter position, when a position is available, follow these steps:

  1. Review the Part-time firefighter job description.
  2. Complete and submit the Township’s Personal History Questionnaire. Submit the application to Catherine Grossman at 6200 Eiterman Road, Dublin Ohio 43016 or email it in .pdf format to [email protected].
  3. Schedule and complete a test through the National Testing Network, Inc. You may take the test prior to earning your Ohio 240 Fire Card or EMT Basic card, but you will be required to have earned both prior to being appointed to a part time firefighter position. Before taking the test, review the information on this site about the testing process and take advantage of the practice tests. Tests are offered multiple times a week, including Saturdays. Once your test is completed, your scores will be automatically sent to Washington Township. Candidates who earn a passing score on the exam will be placed on the department’s eligibility list. Washington Township will invite those who are eligible to participate in other stages of the selection process.
