Consider size, color, and location for house numbers

Emergency responders have maps and GPS devices to help them find your home but it’s also helpful if they can readily find your address on your home. Make sure the size and style (font) of the numbers you select are easy to read from the street. Numeric digits are always easier to read than words (1901 vs. Nineteen hundred one). Lighting in the area increases visibility too. Purchase your address numbers when you know where you will hang them so you can choose a color that contrasts with the surface behind them.
