Using space heaters in your home can be an easy, effective way to create a preferred room temperature without having to increase the temperature throughout your entire home. Often, this can result in cost savings by reducing the amount of oil, gas or electricity used to heat your home. Stay cozy but not careless when using space heaters. Provide a 3-foot clearance around the heater when it is in use. Make sure the electrical cord is far from all doorways and other pathways used by people and pets so it doesn’t create a tripping hazard. When you leave the room the heater is being used in, or retire for the evening, turn it off.
