The Fire Department offers the American Heart Association Heart Saver CPR with AED (automatic external defibrillators) certification classes for the layperson on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
First Aid Certification is offered on the second Saturday of March, June, September and December only, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Participants must be at least 12 years old for classes intended for the layperson.
Topics addressed in pediatric and adult CPR include recognizing and relieving a choking victim, recognizing the signs of a heart attack, and using an AED. First Aid topics include injury assessment, splinting, bandages and dressings, treatment of shock, and much more.
The cost of the CPR with AED class is $10/person for those who work or reside in Washington Township or the City of Dublin and $25/person for those who do not.
The cost of the First Aid certification is $15/person for those who work or reside in Washington Township or the City of Dublin and $20/person for those who do not.
